Terms of service

Effective 2026-05-20.

This is a template. Before relying on these terms in production, have them reviewed by an attorney licensed in your jurisdiction. The headings below cover the standard topics; the exact phrasing of limitation-of-liability, warranty-disclaimer, indemnity, and dispute-resolution clauses is your call.

1. Agreement

By creating an account or using Headland ("the service"), you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the service. The service is operated by Yahara Software ("we", "us", "Headland").

2. Eligibility

You must be 18 or older and legally authorized to bind your business (if you're using Headland on behalf of one). Headland is offered for commercial use by farm operators; consumer / hobbyist use is permitted but unsupported.

3. Account

You're responsible for the security of your account credentials. Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use. We may suspend accounts that violate these terms, are inactive for an extended period, or appear to be operated by an automated system.

4. Subscription & billing

Paid tiers (Pro, Business) are billed through Google Play Billing. Pricing displayed in the app or in Google Play is the binding price. Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; access continues through that period.

5. Your data

You retain all rights to the data you enter into the service. You grant us a limited license to store, process, and transmit your data solely to operate the service and provide the features you've signed up for. See our privacy policy for specifics.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

Reverse-engineer, decompile, or circumvent the service's security mechanisms.
Resell or sublicense access without our written agreement.
Use the service to violate applicable laws (including pesticide regulations) or to support such violations by others.
Upload content you don't have the rights to (e.g., copyrighted material, third-party PII).
Attempt to access another user's data without authorization.
Use automated systems to make bulk requests outside any rate limits we've published.

7. Service availability

We aim for high availability but don't guarantee uninterrupted access. We may perform maintenance, update features, or change pricing with reasonable notice. Material breaking changes will be announced in-app and by email to your registered address.

8. Not professional advice

Headland is a record-keeping and decision-support tool. Nothing in the app constitutes professional agronomic, legal, tax, or veterinary advice. Recommendations (e.g., fertility suggestions from soil tests, rotation suggestions) are informational; you are responsible for the agronomic and regulatory decisions you make. Always consult the label, your applicator-license requirements, your extension service, and your accountant before acting.

9. Intellectual property

The service, including all software, designs, brand marks, and documentation, is our property and protected by copyright and other laws. These terms do not transfer any IP rights to you beyond the limited license to use the service.

10. Warranty disclaimer

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or accurate in every detail.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability for any claim arising from your use of the service will not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including lost profits, lost data, or business interruption.

12. Termination

You can cancel anytime via Google Play. We may terminate or suspend your account for material breach of these terms; we'll provide notice and a reasonable cure period where practicable. On termination, your right to use the service ends and we will delete your account data within 30 days unless you've requested an export first.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wisconsin, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts of Dane County, Wisconsin.

14. Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced in the app and by email. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.
