About Headland
A small team building the record-keeping app we couldn't find for our own farm.
The problem
Most farm software comes in two flavors. On one end you have the enterprise platforms — six-figure contracts, twelve modules you don't need, and a "customer success manager" you can't actually reach during planting. On the other you have spreadsheets, paper notebooks, and a $20 weather app, glued together by memory and a binder somewhere in the shop. Neither is good enough.
The middle is where most US farms actually live: 300–3000 acres, two to five people in the operation, real compliance and buyer requirements, real margin pressure. Headland is built for that middle — for the farmer who walks fields, drives the planter, and signs the elevator ticket themselves.
What we believe
- Field-first UX. If you can't capture a scouting note in three taps with cold hands and no signal, the app isn't useful. We design every form against that test.
- Your data is yours. Export anytime as CSV or PDF. No lock-in. We don't sell your spray records to input suppliers, and we don't use your records to train AI models.
- Safety features are always free. REI / PHI tracking and harvest blocks stay on the Free tier permanently. Pay-walling a feature that protects an applicator from chemical re-entry would be irresponsible.
- We don't make agronomic decisions for you. Headland shows you the data and surfaces patterns, but the call is yours. Every recommendation in the app cites its source.
Who we are
Headland is built by Yahara Software in Wisconsin. We've shipped Vinifera, a vineyard management app, since early 2026; Headland is the adaptation for general agriculture — bigger crop catalog, multi-year rotation, real-time GPS-tracked operations, and the rest of the feature surface row-crop and small-fruit operators told us they need.
